About Us The Bergen Dance Center is owned and operated by Mark and Heide Stiel, former owners of Ringwood Academy for the Performing Arts. The move to Bergen County was a result not only for the need of additional space to satisfy the growing needs of students, but the new location also provides accessibility to residents from local towns outside of Ringwood as well as Bergen County. The new studio is fully air-conditioned and will now have two classrooms, which will better accommodate these needs. Heide Stiel is a professional dancer and teacher with over 25 years of experience. She has performed across the East Coast, most recently at Broadway Dance Center's benefit performance for the World Trade Center Showcase. Heide coordinates various dance programs for local studios, public schools and has worked for 12 summers at Mohawk Day Camps in White Plains, NY. She holds her undergraduate degree in Human Services and Dance Therapy from S.U.N.Y. and is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. Choreography projects include Skidmore College in Saratoga, NY and St. Catherine's Performing Arts Guild in Ringwood which produced musical productions of "South Pacific," "Camelot," Carousel" and "Anything Goes."
Heide continually studies to improve her skills and talents and attends classes in New York City at Broadway Dance Center, Steps, New Dance Group and is currently a participant in Folk Dance Theater. Heide remains on staff at Irine Fokine's School of Ballet in Ridgewood, NJ and at Spa 23 in Pompton Plains, NJ. In June 2001, Heide was featured in a Special Issue of "Dance Teacher" magazine in an article entitled, "Secrets of a Successful Studio Owner."
